Let me recommend a book

Namaste folks!

It’s time for another book recommendation! Are you as excited as I am? I bet you are 😀 Books are awesome 😀

So the book I recommend to today is:

This is “Witch Child” by the british writer Celia Rees.

Enter the world of young Mary Newbury, a world where simply being different can cost a person her life. Hidden until now in the pages of her diary, Mary’s startling story begins in 1659, the year her beloved grandmother is hanged in the public square as a witch. Mary narrowly escapes a similar fate, only to face intolerance and new danger among the Puritans in the New World. How long can she hide her true identity? Will she ever find a place where her healing powers will not be feared?

This is a book I very much love. It is written as a Diary and lets Mary tell her story. The story flirts with fantasy, you never can entirely grab the spark of it though, as it is very tame and very sublte. It makes you believe that everything might just have happened as it is described. The plot is quite slow paced, but not one word is too much, it makes your heart go out for the main character, you grief with her, you laugh with her and you cry with her. It makes your mood go up and down and this is what I most love about this book, about this main character and about her story.
